A little bit about Somasana…

Somasana by Vallerie Mwazo is essentially a movement, a place, an idea, a dream coming into fruition. As far back as I can recall, I have always been interested in the Spiritual aspect of life. Whether that is my early memories of my connection to nature in my homeland, Kenya, to discovering my love for dance in Vermont, or winding through the jacaranda paths in Antigua, I have always felt, seen, and heard my connection to nature and the spiritual side of life.

Writing is my attempt to understand what this connection is and what it communicates through me. Some things are deeply personal and drawn from my lived experience, while others stem from my observations of our shared journey. Either way, by writing it down, I aim to make sense of the intangible. As such, it is a profoundly human experience, and I hope that, with time, I will become wiser and more understanding of it.

That leads to the question below…

Why subscribe?

To feel less alone—and to know that somewhere out there, someone is thinking about the very same things you are—that, in itself, can be enough. Beyond that, I hope you find something here that speaks to you, that feels worth your time, your energy, and your presence.

If that feels like reason enough, I invite you to subscribe—and to know, truly, that you are not alone in your experience.

A commitment of once a month

As a subscriber, you'll hear from me once a month. I believe good writing needs time and reflection, and for me, that means I can realistically write one article per month. For poetry publications, depending on the length, I might release two at once.

This is meant to be enjoyable, a place that invites you to ponder life, to be seen, and to engage with work that speaks to you on a soul level. I hope you enjoy it, perhaps while sipping tea or a glass of wine, and listening to your favourite cosy tunes.

I am intrigued by the space in-between. The space of light and darkness, healing and disease, life and death, the space for all that can occur.
